Judging by the news reports and video clip of last night’s Golden Globes award show (I would rather give myself root canal surgery than watch the show live), it appears as though Oprah Winfrey is considering a run for President in 2020. Indeed, there has been open speculation for months that Oprah is thinking of running.
Having read several write-ups and watched a video clip of her speech, it appears obvious that the the Golden Globes show was meant to be Oprah’s unofficial announcement for President. This was a carefully-planned event designed to launch an effort to draft her for President. When she does officially announce her presidential run (which seems likely), it will be made to look like she is the reluctant candidate. That she is only doing it because we, the little people, are begging her to save us.
What you witnessed last night was a Hollywood-produced campaign event. It is not just Oprah who will be running for President, it is Hollywood. And the way Hollywood will run for President is by telling a story. The story began last night. It is a good v. evil story with Donald Trump cast as the villain and Oprah as the reluctant heroine. Our heroine is not personally ambitious. She does not want to be President. But alas, only she possesses the virtue, wisdom, and strength to save us all from the evil Trump. In the end, she will be persuaded to run, not for her own sake, but for our’s. Such is her love for the little people. While it is not what she wants, being President is her destiny. It is a destiny she will reluctantly accept because of her love for us. All hail Queen Oprah!
